The 600bhp Project 8 is Jaguar’s most powerful model EVER but just 300 will go on sale
Jaguar's SVO performance division has been given licence to thrill with a tuned up version of the Brit maker's XE
JAGUAR will churn out a raft of new models in the next 12 months and at the top of the tree sits its most lethal model ever.
The Project 8 is based on the compact exec XE model but has been given special treatment by Jag's SVO performance arm.
Thanks to the tune-up, the tricked up XE will have a thumping 600bhp 5.0-litre V8 under the hood. Production will be limited to just 300 cars.
It will be the second Collectors’ Edition vehicle from SVO, following the Jaguar F-TYPE Project 7 a couple of years ago.
John Edwards, MD of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: “The time is right for SVO to produce the most extreme performance road car in the history of Jaguar.”
More details — like how quick it goes and how much it will cost — will be revealed at the Goodwood Festival Of Speed later this month.
Jaguar's other new products include a £28,000 SUV called E-Pace, which sits below the F-Pace. That will be revealed in July.
Jag’s first electric car, the £60,000 I-Pace, follows in September and there’ll be a new XJ in 2018 to mark 50 years of the luxury limo.
