Google beats Dropbox as small retailers' top favorite technology

When it comes to technology tools small and medium retailers love Google. In fact the love grew so much this year it knocked Dropbox out of the top ranking of favorite tech tools in a SurePayroll survey.

Google Drive dominated in the third annual survey, according to a company press release. The cloud storage and organizational technology outranked last year's winner, Dropbox, and was the most used app among small business owners.

Google Plus was more popular than Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest, and LinkedIn and Facebook were found to be more useful than Twitter or Snapchat. Mail Chimp took down last year's champ, Constant Contact, in the email marketing software category, the release said.

“Our average customer tells us, for example, that they use Mail Chimp to communicate with customers, Google Drive to store important documents and SurePayroll to pay their employees. Those are the building blocks and beyond that upgrading technology becomes costly,” SurePayroll General Manager Andy Roe said in the release. “Small businesses with only a few employees are typically not going to have a lot of resources for extensive technology systems. Fortunately, there are some really beneficial, low-cost tools available.”

The complete rankings and results are available on SurePayroll's Facebook page.
