AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program: Volunteers are needed for the program, which is offered under the guidance of the Internal Revenue Service and the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. Volunteers do not need to be AARP members. No previous tax experience is required as training is provided. SCORE: Volunteers are needed for helping entrepreneurs identify their target customers, understand customer needs and how to meet them. Both traditional and online experienced marketing mentors are needed. Flexible scheduling. Mentors have 10-plus years experience as business owners, professionals or business educators. Volunteers also attend a monthly meeting 9-10:30 a.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Fox Cities Chamber office. Salvation Army Fox-Cities: Volunteers are needed for sorting and distributing Coats for Kids; interviewing for eligibility and assisting families to complete gift list via basic data entry, interpreting in Spanish and Hmong; sorting and distributing Christmas toys; assisting with Adopt-a-Family gift pickup; visiting nursing homes and a host of other opportunities. Next Step Program: Volunteers are needed for the Next Step Program, a collaboration between St. Vincent de Paul of Appleton, LEAVEN of the Fox Cities and Homeless Connections. Volunteers provide a listening ear, guidance, support and encouragement to families and individuals who are struggling with barriers related to poverty. Make-A-Wish Wisconsin: Needs volunteers for Drive for Dreams campaign, in partnership with Bergstrom Automotive. Help is needed for Bergstrom Automotive's Lube-A-Thon event 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 22. Full day shifts and half-day shifts available. Outagamie County Nutrition Program: Mealsite volunteers needed 10:30-noon Monday-Friday at the Oneida Heights Congregate Mealsite 525 N. Oneida Street, Appleton. Fox Valley Lutheran Homes: Is in need of a volunteer to assist in their office for 3 to 4 hours Friday mornings. This is primarily very light tasks, answering phones and taking messages. Initial training will be done by arrangement on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. Call 920-734-7225.

Appleton Area School District: Share your love of reading with first graders at Franklin Elementary School in Appleton.  Two volunteer tutors are needed 10:15-11:15 a.m. Mondays. Math tutors also need for students in grades 2-4 from 2:20-3 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays at Houdini Elementary School.
