Revealed: SRK’s trainer reveals ideal pre and post workout diets
We all love the Badshaah of Bollywood. Though his movies at times have failed to impress us but we love the way his toned body is getting better and hotter with age. From six-pack abs in Om Shanti Om to an eight-pack in Happy New Year, Shah Rukh is far from giving in to age. In fact, he is all set to flaunt a younger and slimmer waist in Imtiaz Ali’s next movie against Anushka Sharma.
The man behind the chiseled body of King Khan and his hot bod is his personal fitness trainer Prashant Sawant. In an exclusive interview with us, Prashant talks about his journey with the Fan actor, how SRK is like an elder brother to him and SRK’s fitness and diet plans for the upcoming flick. He has also provided a detailed pre and post workout diet plan that is set to rock our fitness routine.
Chiseling the man behind Asoka the Great
On being asked when Prashant started training SRK, his reply sounded almost like since our generation remembers Shah Rukh. Prashant trained him for the first time for his movie Asoka which was released in 2001. Since then till now, Prashant has been training the star.
Here’s revealing fitness regimen of SRK
They do not train more than 45 minutes but those 45 minutes are very rigorous when they do not talk, do not listen to music, and mostly do it late at night. Prashant usually focuses on one body part at a time and covers all the body parts in a week. They do intense rehab workout, cycling, and rigorous training for legs and abs.
Does SRK also miss his workout, like us?
The longest SRK has gone without working out is two months following his back surgery, Prashant revealed. Otherwise, SRK is self motivated and sticks to his workout routine, except when he is busy with promotions.

Shah Rukh Khan vs Varun Dhawan
Prashant trains both these Bollywood stars and when asked that who between them needs more pushing, he said that both are equally dedicated and competitive. Varun loves his body and hence, is self motivated to keep it toned. Having trained Varun for Dishoom and Student Of The Year, Prashant calls him like his “younger brother”. SRK’s energy is comparable to that of a twenty five year old, Prashant said, and when Varun and SRK worked together for Dilwale, they were equally motivated.
The Pre-Workout plan
The pre-workout diet should be a combination of two things – proteins and carbs, said Prashant. Prashant suggests that one can either go for a meal at least an hour before the workout that is a combination of proteins and carbs equivalent to 0.25g per pound of your target body weight, or for a liquid containing the same amount of nutrition at least half an hour before the workout.
The Post-Workout plan
Post-workout diet doesn’t differ a lot from the pre-workout diet in terms of the nutrients required, said Prashant. He said that ideally one should consume proteins and carbs within 30 minutes of the workout. One can have a protein rich liquid or a diet rich in carbs or a combination of both. A high glycemic diet may also be a good post-workout option, he added. (A high glycemic diet raises blood glucose levels and is usually not preferred but after working out. Food items like white bread, cookies, white potato, etc. are high glycemic.)
