Nancy Greene looks to be taking on cancer like she took on her competition on the hill.
Sun Peaks shared a positive update on their Director of Skiing and former Olympian on Monday evening.
“Following successful surgery to remove her thryroid gland in April, Nancy has been undergoing follow up treatment as an out-patient of the BC Cancer Agency facility in Kelowna, BC,” said the news release. “The treatment is going well, and Nancy is able to return to Ottawa for two weeks in early June to take up her Senate duties.”
General Manager of Sun Peaks Resort, Darcy Alexander, gave the update on behalf of Greene.
He also revealed that Greene would be joining the Canada 150 celebrations on July 1st at Sun Peaks.
“Nancy is looking forward to joining the community and visitors at Sun Peaks on Canada Day,” he said. “A variety of special events are planned, including having Nancy and her husband, Mayor Al Raine, cut the traditional birthday cake in the Clocktower Square at 1:00pm.”
Canada Day at Sun Peaks will culminate with a free outdoor concert featuring 54-40.
Greene was diagnosed with thyroid cancer back in April.
