With the hundreds of millions of Twitter conversations that happen each day, marketers and brands regularly tap into the social platform to ‘tell their story’ and connect with potential audiences and consumers.

Brands already use Twitter marketing features like promoted Tweets, which help brands reach wider audiences--even those that aren’t explicitly following the brand--enabling extended visibility. Twitter today announced a way brands can engage with users by featuring a video tweet in the most premium slot of the Twitter experience--the first view a Twitter user sees when they launch the Twitter app or log in from a browser.

This top ad slot, generally occupying the second tweet in the timeline, can now be used by brands to host a promoted video, enabling them to grab a Twitter user’s first eyeful. Think of it as the front inside cover of a magazine or a newspaper cover.

The First View feature is rolling to managed clients in the US to start, with a global tapeout expected over the next several months.
