McCain returns home for cancer treatment

Hours after his pivotal vote against an ObamaCare repeal, Sen. John McCain has announced he is returning to Arizona to undergo further medical treatment.

McCain, 80, who was diagnosed this month with brain cancer, will be beginning radiation and chemotherapy at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, his office said.

He will maintain his work schedule during these treatments, and plans to return to Washington at the end of the August recess, continuing his sixth Senate term, his office said.

As a parting message to Washington, he tweeted Friday afternoon, “I urge my colleague to trust each other, stop political games & put health needs of American ppl 1st. We can do this.”
