Each week, Boston.com profiles several cars that consumers can find for below a certain price point in an effort to help you find your dream car faster. The cars listed include new and used models and any financial incentives currently available. Prices posted here are either starting MSRPs for newer vehicles or based on Kelley Blue Book’s Fair Purchase Price for used vehicles.
2017 Buick Cascada

Why it’s worth the price: The four-passenger Buick Cascada convertible offers a luxury look for less money than competitors. The drop-top comes in three trims: base, Premium, and new for 2017, Sport Touring. Each runs on a 200-horsepower, 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and is equipped with Bluetooth, a USB port, and Buick’s IntellilLink infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen.
The Cascada earned a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. It has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. A rearview camera and rear parking sensors come standard. Advanced safety features including forward collision warning and lane departure warning are available.

2017 Acura TLX
2017 Acura TLX V6.
Starting MSRP: $32,000
Why it’s worth the price: As the upscale sibling to the Honda Accord, the Acura TLX is comfortable, refined, and well-priced. The five-passenger midsize sedan is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that returns 24 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, figures similar to the Accord. A 3.5-liter V6 is available. The TLX comes equipped with leatherette upholstery, heated front seats, Bluetooth, and a USB port.
The TLX earned a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and excellent scores in all crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, except for the small overlap front test, which measures a collision’s impact on the vehicle’s front corner. A rearview camera is standard, and advanced safety features including collision mitigation braking, front and rear parking sensors, and blind spot monitoring are available.

2017 Infiniti Q50

Starting MSRP: $33,950
Why it’s worth the price: Sleek and luxurious, the Infiniti Q50 is underrated vis a vis its German competitors. The five-passenger compact car is offered in several trims, ranging from the 2.0t base model to the high-performance, 400-horsepower Red Sport. The 2.0t comes equipped with a 208-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder engine, as well as Bluetooth, two USB ports, and Infiniti’s InTouch infotainment system with two touch screens.
The Q50 earned top scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It received five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the rollover test, the only test the agency has performed so far. A rearview camera comes standard, and blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, and lane departure warning are available.

2017 BMW 2-Series
2017 BMW M240i M Performance Edition.
Starting MSRP: $33,150
Why it’s worth the price: Small, quick, and nimble, the BMW 2-Series provides a thrilling ride for up to four. The compact sedan is offered with an impressive range of engines: the 230i’s 248-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, the M240i’s 335-horsepower, 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder, and the high-performance M2’s 365-horsepower, 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder. The 2-Series comes with Bluetooth, a USB port, and BMW’s iDrive infotainment system with a 6.5-inch touch screen.
The BMW 2-Series earned excellent scores in crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Adaptive cruise control comes standard. A rearview camera, lane keep assist, and parking sensors are available.

2016 Lexus ES

Why it’s worth the price: The Lexus ES midsize sedan received a facelift in 2016, so last year’s model still feels stylish and fresh. The five-passenger car is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, and a 7-inch touch screen come standard. Leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and a panoramic sunroof are available.
The 2016 Lexus ES earned a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and excellent scores in all crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. A rearview camera is standard. Advanced safety features including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane departure alert are available.

2016 Audi Q3

Why it’s worth the price: Audi’s smallest crossover is upscale and dynamic with cabin comforts to spare. The five-passenger SUV is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. All models are equipped with luxuries including a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, and an infotainment system with a 7-inch display screen. Passengers will sit pretty with standard eight-way heated power front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The 2016 Audi Q3 earned top scores in crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It was not tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A rearview camera and parking sensors became standard for the 2016 model year.
