Shannon Doherty made a triumphant return to acting this week.

After a two-year battle with breast cancer, Doherty joined the set of Heathers, a TV adaptation of the 1988 film, which she also starred in.

She reflected on her work on Instagram Wednesday.

"As an actor, people bench you," she wrote. "They assume you're to weak, not able etc etc. and yet it's something like work that invigorates and renews strength to conquer the unimaginable beast."

She also used a car as a metaphor for herself.

"That vintage Shelby that's been in the garage too long," she said. "It's still a great car. The best. Just needs time for the engine to warm up and it's good to go."

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015. In February, she completed radiation and chemotherapy treatment, and in April, she announced that she is in remission.

She also shared a photo of her new haircut Tuesday, noting that she was thankful "to feel a bit more like a woman again."

"I'm grateful for today," she wrote Wednesday. "Grateful for everyday."
