There's something about the fashion Kentucky Derby week that has everyone turning heads.

“Fashion is a tradition of the Triple Crown since it really started, and Longines represents elegance, so Longines has been a perfect fit for the Kentucky Derby and Oaks," said Bri Mott, author of the blog “Fashion at the Races” that showcases the "panache" behind horse racing from fashion to the horses.

Mott also represents Longines - the official sponsor of the Kentucky Oaks and the official watch and timekeeper of the Kentucky Derby - and offered her thoughts on what will be hot this year at the track.

The first thing you'll notice, she said, is a lot of shoulders. "Off-the-shoulder is huge," she said.

Another thing will be fascinators and hats that push the fashion envelope.

"You’re going to see a bit more fashion forward than you have in the past of the traditional southern belles," she said.

One thing to certainly avoid at the track? "Too short dresses are a no-no. This is not the nightclub, this is the horse races."

And for those heading to the track Saturday, make sure you check the weather.

"It’s going to be a little colder, so make sure you’re prepared for that and make sure you’re comfortable in your shoes. Ladies are going to want to wear heels, but make sure they fit."
