As well as the tattoo enthusiasts, more than 300 ink artists were there creating new body art and sharing their expertise.

Some of the best tattoo artists in the world - such as Koit, Matina Marinou, Maya Vavoom and Parry Chotipradit - were due to attend the two-day event, which runs until 10pm tonight and continues tomorrow (Sunday).

The high point of the convention is the tattoo contests, and only body art done at the event is eligible. There are 11 categories in total, including the coveted Best In Convention.

There are several tattoo conventions across the globe every year.

Around 1,000 new inks were etched at Tattoo Collective, in east London, back in February - while these hilariously awkward photos show people grimacing as they're inked at Brazil's Tattoo Week festival.

While the latest tatt trends see people getting bee tattoos in memory of the Manchester terror attack victims, married couples replacing their wedding bands with ring ink, and kids getting spray-on sleeves to match their parents.
