The Ogun State government is to officially visit the new world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua at his London home for making the state and Nigeria proud.

The Nigerian-born boxer who hails from Sagamu had also expressed his desire to relate with his home government.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Mr Afolabi Afuape, told reporters in Abeokuta that the state has always been known to be first in many aspect of human endeavours.

According to Mr Afuape, the trip to London is to congratulate the professional boxer on his victory, after which the State Government would invite him for a state award.

He added that Governor Ibikunle Amosun was of the view that Joshua also deserves a national award.

The 27-year-old world champion beat Wladimir Kiltschko at the 11th round with a stunning knockout.
