Madaari: Why does Irrfan Khan want to meet PM Modi, Kejriwal and other leaders? No it isn't a promotional strategy

The release of the socio-drama has been postponed two times - the first, owing to a clash with Amitabh Bachchan's Te3n and then to make way for Great Grand Masti.

Irrfan, who has been promoting the film for weeks now, has reached out to politicians like PM Narendra Modi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. He approached the politicians, seeking to interact with them as a common man. But was it all a marketing strategy for Madaari?

No, says Irrfan. In an exclusive conversation with Catch, the actor revealed that he thought the time was ripe to discuss pressing social issues. He said:

"I have been in this zone for a while now where I have been thinking about the socio-political arena we are living in. There are so many questions around us. I have been thinking about the system. Even when you are not doing a film based on the socio-political drama, there are so many questions that you can see arising. And I felt that it's a perfect time for me to talk to them."

When asked to describe the essence of Madaari, he said: "You cannot explain an experience in words. We have tried to give the glimpse of our movie in the trailer. If the audience feels the movie trailer is promising,they will watch the film in theatres."
